La
Jolla, Spanish for "The Jewel," is 14 miles north of
downtown San Diego. California’s Riviera and one of
San Diego’s most exclusive neighborhoods, La Jolla has charm,
natural beauty, fabulous beaches, world-class cultural activities
and an extensive array of cosmopolitan fine dining opportunities.
Historically, La Jolla real estate has been an excellent investment as space is limited and demand consistently remains high. From crashing waves along the shore to estates on Mt. Soledad, homes in La Jolla are truly world class. With 40,000 residents, La Jolla is comprised of a number of smaller neighborhoods. Bird Rock has a mile long commercial district with good local shops and restaurants. The beach is perfect
for diving and surfing, but there’s no swimming. Long known
as an entry-level market for La Jolla, “starter homes”
are either right on the water, or very close to it with
great views.Most of the single family homes in Bird Rock are from the 1920’s to 1950’s era. It’s an exclusive residential neighborhood with scenic canyons, spectacular ocean views and easy access to the La Jolla Country Club and Golf course.
There is also a condominium complex.Hidden Valley is just minutes from “The Village” and has easy freeway access. Hidden Valley lots are large. Streets wind around lush landscaping and there’s a pedestrian overpass to the Pacific Ocean. There is a mixture of custom homes and good sized condominiums. La Jolla Alta is mostly planned residential developments with custom homes on large, private lots below the southern slope of Mt. Soledad. Many La Jolla Alta homes have ocean and bay views. Planned communities have pools, tennis courts and clubhouses. There are a number of gated communities in La Jolla Alta, both condominium complexes and single-family homes on small cul-de-sacs. La Jolla Farms, with its panoramic Pacific and city skyline views, is one of La Jolla's most prestigious neighborhoods. There are traditional single-family homes as well as condominiums convenient
to Torrey Pines State Park, UCSD, La Jolla Country Day
School, University Towne Center and the freeway.
Residents have keys to a private entrance to Black’s Beach
where the surfing is excellent and clothing is optional.
